Shed Slabs in Rockhampton
Slabs for garages, carports, caravan and machinery sheds, built to the shed kit's own footing plan.
Ring 0489 908 651 Get it quoted
The job goes from this line to a single QBCC-licensed concreter, who prices and pours it.
- Set out to the supplier's footing plan
- Bolts where the frame needs them
- Thickened edges and footings for the portal frame
The shed decides the slab
Around Rockhampton, the shed slab is often the biggest concrete job on the block. Caravans, boats, tractors, a second car and a workshop all end up under a steel roof, and the slab under them needs to match. Every shed kit comes with engineering for the site: the footing sizes, the slab thickness, the bolt positions and the wind rating. Build the slab to that plan. A slab poured to “about the right size” and drilled for bolts afterwards is how frames end up out of square.
So the first step is the shed supplier, not the concreter. Get the footing plan and the slab drawing from them, and hand it over with the request for a quote.
Approval first
In Queensland a little garden shed can often go up without building approval, while bigger sheds, garages and carports generally need it. If yours does, the footings may be inspected before the pour. Ask the shed company or a certifier which category yours falls in.
What a good shed slab includes
- Footings or thickened edges where the portal frame stands, sized to the engineering.
- Mesh held up on bar chairs inside the slab, not lying on the ground.
- Hold-down bolts or cast-in plates set out from the drawing.
- A floor sitting a touch above the surrounding dirt, falling gently towards the door.
- Conduit for power and water placed before the pour, because nobody wants to cut a new slab.
Big blocks, big trucks
Out at Gracemere and on the larger blocks around town, a concrete truck may have a long way to travel from the gate. Wet ground after a storm can stop a truck dead, and a pump adds cost but saves a bogged truck and a ruined lawn. Agree on the access before the pour date. There is more in what a shed slab quote should cover.
Getting it quoted
Pass on the shed dimensions, the supplier’s footing drawing and a snap of where it is going. Ring 0489 908 651 or use the form, and a licensed Rocky concreter rings you back to book a measure-up. For the drive in, see concrete driveways.
Rockhampton and Gracemere
- Frenchville Established homes on the slopes towards Mount Archer, where runoff and old driveways are the usual jobs.
- Gracemere A fast-growing town west of Rockhampton, with new estates, big sheds and rural blocks on its edges.
- Norman Gardens A big northern suburb mixing newer estates with older homes, where upgrades and add-ons are the usual work.
- Parkhurst Rockhampton's northern edge, with newer homes and working sheds side by side.
- The Range Established homes on higher ground west of the centre, where old concrete and steep entries are the work.
Fair questions
Do I need the shed kit before the slab is quoted?
You need the shed supplier's footing and slab drawing, even if the kit has not arrived. The slab, footings and bolt positions should be built to that plan, so it is the first thing a concreter will ask for.

- Nothing. The concreter quotes
- One licensed local concreter gets the job, and nobody else
- Rough size, the site and a photo is usually enough for a first figure
